Mike has lived a little bit of everywhere. He is originally from Los Angeles, California but moved to Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 12. He went to college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee and graduated in 2010 with a degree in Political Science and Philosophy. Some of his interests are basketball, public speaking, and long walks on the beach.
After graduating, Mike started in the management training program in Baltimore, MD at the end of 2010. After working with a number of different Business to Business and Business to Consumer campaigns, he was promoted to assistant management during the summer of 2012. As of the beginning of February 2013, Mike has been right here in Pittsburgh and is loving every second of it.
His goals now are to continue to maintain the high level of quality that represents our calling card. Expansion is a goal of his as well. He plans to expand into 1 new market in the first quarter of 2015 and another in the 4th quarter.
If we listened to our intellect we’d never have a love affair. We’d never have a friendship. We’d never go in business because we’d be cynical: “It’s gonna go wrong.” Or “She’s going to hurt me.” Or,”I’ve had a couple of bad love affairs, so therefore . . .” Well, that’s nonsense. You’re going to miss life. You’ve got to jump off the cliff all the time and build your wings on the way down.

Graduating from Washington College with a degree in History, Dan was also active in ice hockey and lacrosse. With both of his parents in law, he wanted to gain real world business experience after his graduation. Having held a few positions prior to working at Steeplechase, he continued searching for the right fit. While searching for a competitive place to keep with his sports background, he was also looking for a place with advancement, development, and a great team environment.
Dan started with Steeplechase Business Solutions as it opened in February of 2013. He quickly became one of the top performers in the office. While continuing to exceed client targets and expectations, Dan was quickly developing the business knowledge he was looking for and advancing along the way.
In the first quarter of January, Dan plans to help with the expansion of Steeplechase Business Solutions and continue to provide the same opportunity that he was given to others.
“If the wind will not serve, take to the oars”
One hundred percent of our leadership, including ownership, developed from the entry level. Continual training and development are cornerstones of our growth strategy. We take pride in our systematic training approach. We have designed it to take into account a variety of different learning styles. We will initially start our employees learning how to communicate with customers and learning the ability to self-manage schedule and responsibilities. Once mastery of this has occurred, we will begin to teach somebody leadership skills and management responsibilities.
We believe in continual development. Our management in training program teaches valuable real world skills that are applicable and marketable in any industry. As we continue our growth, we will develop talent from within. Every manager we promote in the next year will come from the entry level. This is our promise and our commitment to our people. We will provide the training necessary to make this possible. All that we ask in return is integrity, hard work, and a positive problem solving mentality.
